Assessment comprises two continuous assessment tasks, aimed at advanced understanding of health psychology. You will also understand how this knowledge may be applied to improve health through participation in your own health behavior modification process.
This includes collecting data to monitor a health behavior of choice conducting a behavior modification interview, implementing an intervention, assessing the effectiveness of your chosen intervention on your health behavior, and also preparing a practical report about this process. The first continuous assessment will require you to present the findings of your behavioral intervention.
Following the completion of your behavior diaries and the subsequent interview and design of your behavioral intervention, you will implement your intervention and complete a daily behavior diary for the intervention week. You will then use the data you have collected in your diary to evaluate the intervention using a ‘Single Systems Design’. You will graph your pre-and post-intervention data and present this on a single slide.
The second continuous assessment will require you to produce a practical report. You will explain in detail why you chose your target behavior, how you designed your intervention, what happened to your target behavior pre-and post-intervention, whether or not your intervention was successful, why you think this may be the case, strengths and weaknesses of your approach and what your study tells us. The first assessment has been complete, the second rough drafted.
