Task 1: Research BCA Performance Requirements and Compliance Solutions for projects

Task 1.1

You must carry out an analysis of the project plans and specifications for the proposed residential project at1 Lake Rd Toronto NSW to identify and summarise the structural Performance Requirements for the major construction elements listed below:

1. Reinforced concrete slabs and footings

2. Brick veneer walls

You will present your findings in a professional format of your own choice and include the full NCC reference.  Direct copying from the NCC is not permissible; you must demonstrate an ability to analyze, interpret and apply information from the resources.

 Task 1.2

For each of the listed major construction elements above, you must provide a summary of the Compliance Solution that will be used to comply with the Performance Requirements. The description is to include information from NCC referenced Australian Standards.

You should present your findings in such a way as to demonstrate a clear relationship between Performance Requirements and the Compliance Solution for each element. The report is to be structured to demonstrate a logical follow-on from Task 1.1.

Task 1.3

For each of the listed major construction elements above, identify and access the relevant current Australian Standards for each construction element. Provide a full description of each standard and include a brief summary of its application to the Performance Requirement and Compliance Solution.

Task 2:Building Classification Report

Task 2.1

You must produce a professional report to define a range of buildings that are described in the NCC according to their use and arrangement. Access an example of each building type listed below, in your local area. The Building Classification Report will include the following criteria.

1. A brief introduction to the report summarising the content and the sources used to describe the building types

2. Buildings defined will be:

a) Class 1 and 10, including all subclasses

b) Classes 2 to 9 Type C buildings, including all subclasses

3. At least one photo per building, clearly identifying the use, including the suburb where it was found. Each photo is to be clear and be approximately half a page in size. (Photos are not to be sourced off the internet)

4. A paraphrased description of the NCC criteria defining the building. (Direct copying of the NCC information is not acceptable)

5. No more than one building class per page.

 Task 2.2

You must include an additional section in your report that describes Multiple Classifications for both residential and commercial buildings. Be sure to include photos and descriptions in the same format as Task 2.1 above.

You will access one example each of a residential and commercial multi-classified building. The reporting will include:

1. A general explanation of multiple classifications should include examples and neat sketches. (Direct copying of the NCC information is not acceptable)

2. At least one photo per building, clearly identifying the use, including the suburb where it was found. Each photo is to be clear and be approximately half a page in size. (Photos are not to be sourced off the internet)

3. No more than one building class per page.
