TASK 1

  • Case Study C — Charlie Bronson (Client with restricted leg function due to obesity)

  • Healthy Eating Information Nutritional Habits Questionnaire

The FIRST PART of this task is to plan the program for each client:

  •  Warm up and cool down should be 5-7 minutes each
  •  The main part of the program for each case study should be 15 — 20 minutes •
  • Select exercises to suit the client and their needs after reading the full case study and history of all screening and fitness scores

After writing the 3 programs you must complete a Program Justification Form for each program by responding to each question in the form and providing  reasons and responses to the questions about your programs.

The SECOND PART of this task is to deliver one program. You can get help from friends, family members or colleagues. They do not need to be an older population; they are simply helping role-play the delivery of this type of activity.

Spend time working out how you intend to conduct the program delivery before you commence. Do at least one practice run through delivery by yourself to ensure you have the program set up correctly as well as the reps and rest periods and number of times you will repeat each activity before delivering the session.

Face to Face students:

You should complete OSP Task 1 (Case Studies A, B and C) by planning the 3 programs and delivering one program in class time. However, if you miss this class, or if you do not complete this during class time, you will need to perform this task in your own time. You must submit 3 Resistance Training Programs and 3 Program Justification Forms. Campus Coordinators will provide instructions on how you can submit the forms for this task in class.

TASK 2

This task requires you to write 3 programs for the same older male client across a 12-month timeline. You will then deliver the 12-month follow up program with friend or family member in a role-playing situation:

  • Case Study D – William Overture (Older male client with no health issues and medical clearance from his Doctor to exercise)

You will be provided with the following documentation for this case study:

  • Client Goals Consultation
  • Pre-Exercise Health Questionnaire
  • Screening Results

The FIRST PART of this task is to design the 3 programs for each of the 3 different periods over the 12 months. Be sure to read how the client’s fitness and strength improves each time so that the programs are adjusted to suit the improvements in fitness and account for the change in strength.

Initial program

1. Write the warmup and cool down – 5-7 minutes each

3. Write a basic stability & balance program to be used after the resistance program —10 minutes

6-month program

1. Write a conditioning program to be done before the resistance program — 20-minutes

2. Write the main part of exercise program —40 minutes (may include some free weight exercises as well as body weight and machine exercises) exercises should be processed from initial program

12-month program

1. Write a conditioning program to be done before the resistance program — 20-minutes

2. Write the main part of exercise program – 40 minutes (should include a variety of different types of equipment) – exercises should be progressed from 6-month program

You must also complete the Program Justification form responding to each question about the program you designed, making sure you address all the programs written for each time period.
